Kate is looking forward to meeting Harry and Meghan’s daughter Lilibet

A year ago today, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their second child – a beautiful daughter named Lilibet.

And as she celebrates her first birthday today, her first 12 months were certainly unique — and very different from those of her older brother Archie or their royal cousins George, Charlotte and Louis.

For starters, she was born in California rather than Britain, at a time after her parents had retired as working royals.

We’ve rarely seen the young woman – but she was featured in the Sussex family’s beautiful Christmas card photo last year and she’s currently in the UK to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

However, her proud parents have so far shared several sweet snippets of her life, including her celebrity friends and her “chilled” manner…

On June 4, 2021, Harry and Meghan welcomed their daughter – and revealed her name as Lilibet Diana.

Of course, her middle name is a homage to Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana, while her first name is Lilibet, in honor of the Queen.

The name Lilibet was a nickname given to the Queen by her grandfather when she was struggling to pronounce her name Elizabeth as a child.

Harry and Meghan’s rep said: “The Duke spoke to his family prior to the announcement, in fact his grandmother was the first family member he called.

“During this conversation, he shared her hope of naming her daughter Lilibet in her honor. If she hadn’t endorsed them, they wouldn’t have used the name.”

Meghan gave birth to Lilibet at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California, while older brother Archie was born at Portland Hospital in London.

Lilibet has no title yet, but is eighth in line to the throne.

Chilled nature

Ever since she was born, Harry and Meghan have maintained their privacy with their little girl.

But the couple have given small updates about their daughter to let fans know how she’s doing.

Last July, while attending the Well Child Awards, Harry told one of the guests: “We’ve been lucky so far, she’s very relaxed and seems happy just sitting there with Archie running around like crazy.”

And in September, Meghan told reporters that Lilibet was beautiful during a trip to New York City.

Celebrity Playdates

She may just have turned a year old, but it seems Lilibet can count on some celebrity friends.

In a recent interview on The Ellen Show, Meghan revealed host Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia had been hanging out with the family.

Ellen and Portia are considered neighbors of Harry and Meghan and had visited them for a Halloween get-together.

Meanwhile, it has also been reported that TV presenter James Corden’s children have been enjoying playdates with Lilibet and her big brother Archie.

Asked by The sun If he had visited Harry and Meghan’s home, Corden said, “I did. It was more of a play date type of scenario [with the kids]. “

Halloween fun

During her chat with Ellen, Meghan revealed the cute costume Lilibet wore during the Halloween party.

Meghan said: “We wanted to do something fun for the kids but the kids weren’t interested at all.

“Lilibet was a little skunk… like Flower from Bambi.

“Archie was a dinosaur for maybe five minutes.”

teething

But it wasn’t all fun and costumes in the Sussex household – Harry and Meghan were also struggling with Lilibet’s teething.

In her interview with Ellen, Meghan revealed how she was looking for “anything to ease Lilibet’s teething troubles,” and the host replied, “Tequila, anything.”

And Meghan joked, “That’s Aunt Ellen for you,” who accepted, “That’s why I don’t have kids.”

Being American-born and arriving in the UK for the first time only this weekend, Lilibet has not had a chance to meet any of her royal relatives – including her great-grandmother the Queen.

But now that she’s visited the UK, chances are she’s finally met some of her royal relatives.

And this morning, the Queen’s official Twitter account, as well as those of her grandfather, the Prince of Wales, and her uncle and aunt, William and Kate, publicly sent their birthday wishes.

The Queen is missing out on one of her favorite sporting events today – the derby – and it could be that she could be Lilibet on her birthday.

But royal commentator Omid Scobie, one of the authors of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s biography Finding Freedom, told BBC Breakfast: “I think people are expecting some kind of big extravagant birthday event that we’re going to see photos of. From what I was told we shouldn’t expect anything.

“These moments with Lilibet are very private between you and the Queen and of course we know how much she was looking forward to it.

“They have been held back by a pandemic. Of course, during the times Harry was here, he was only alone on rather somber occasions. And that was really the first time.

“Of course we know the Queen returned to Windsor Castle yesterday [Thursday]the couple have also returned to Windsor, where they are staying at Frogmore Cottage.”
