Lindsie Chrisley sets the record straight about her recent reconciliation with her father, Todd Chrisley.
Lindsie discussed the reaction to her reconnection with her father on a recent episode of her podcast, The Southern Tea. She clarified that her decision to work on their relationship as a father and daughter was related to their divorce and not to the cheating trial in which Todd and his wife Julie Chrisley were recently convicted.
“I think the most common question is whether people want to know if we reconnected because of the trial or because of my divorce… [but] I can tell you with confidence that there was no reconnection for any legal reason,” Lindsie, 31, was quoted by Entertainment Tonight as saying on the podcast. “Nothing like this has ever happened.”
Lindsie had been previously and publicly estranged from Todd, but the duo reconciled earlier this year while he and his wife were on trial for tax fraud.
Lindsie explained on her podcast that her own marital struggles brought her closer to her father. In August 2021, she announced her divorce from her husband of nine years, Will Campbell.
A day after their announcement, Todd shared a message on Instagram that read, “You know who you are,” and offered love and support. Lindsie admitted her father’s post was the catalyst for their reconciliation.
“After my divorce stuff broke, my dad posted, ‘I’m here, I love you, whatever’s going on in your life right now, I see it.’ [And] It’s really more like how we were able to reconnect,” Lindsie said, adding that they “definitely reconnected because of my divorce.”
The 31-year-old “Coffee Convos” podcast host also addressed her father’s message in an interview with ET in September 2021. However, at the time, she was unwilling to reconcile with Todd because she said her father never reached out to her directly after speaking ill of her in the media.
“There will never be a reconciliation,” Lindsie said. “I think the best that can be asked at this point is for everyone to get on with their lives as they see fit and just leave the other side alone. But at this point there will be no chance of reconciliation.”
Todd made similar comments during an interview with PeopleTV’s Reality Check last August. The Chrisley Knows Best star admitted Lindsie texted him asking if they could sit down with their lawyers. However, he turned down her proposal, saying, “I’m not interested.”
He said at the time that there are “certain things in life that I feel like you just can’t get over. And sadly, I think Lindsie and I are there.”
But in an interview with ET that same month, Todd hinted that he was ready to reconcile with his daughter. “I pray to God every day. It was the hardest because I don’t know where you go from that… When you’ve had a child you loved the way Lindsie was loved and this happens. All I can do is pray that God will bless her and God give her peace of mind and that God will restore what can be restored,” he said.
In June, Todd and Julie were found guilty of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud against the United States and tax fraud. In addition, Julie was also found guilty of obstruction of justice and wire fraud.
Her sentencing is scheduled for October 6th. They face up to 30 years in prison.
