A young boy was ‘attacked’ by a ‘bear-like’ dog while playing football with his friends.
In the traumatic incident, 11-year-old Jace was said to have been bitten on the leg, causing stitches and bite marks on the skin and severe bruising before he was reported to police.
His mother has now spoken out following the alleged attack at Light Oaks Park, Salford, on Friday.
Mom Lauren Davison says the animal’s owner left immediately after and is raising awareness to prevent others from suffering the same fate. She rushed to the park just after 7pm after a concerned call from his friends’ phone to find her son distraught and bleeding after the incident.
She said: “He was playing football with his friends on the field and then this dog just ran up to him to attack him and bit his leg. He ran as fast as he could, but the dog chased him away from it. The owner grabbed the dog by the collar.

“It’s close to where we live, so he called me from his friends’ phone and told me he had been bitten. When I got there the owner was already gone, he didn’t wait with him to check if he was ok or anything.
“I reported it to the police because I have no idea who this man is. My son said he was walking another small dog, also off leash.
“I took him to the hospital because the bite pierced his skin. There’s a main piercing and there’s bad bruising everywhere. They bandaged it up and gave it antibiotics.
“I’m going to be worried now, mostly because we don’t know who this guy is and the dog hasn’t been found. I don’t want this to happen to anyone else and it could have been a lot worse. He was really shaken up afterwards.”
Mum Lauren added that they suspected the dog was a Caucasian Shepherd breed and said he was “bear-like” in appearance. Greater Manchester Police have since confirmed that the incident involving a dog has been reported and that they are investigating.
A spokesman said: “This was reported on Sunday morning but relates to an incident involving an 11-year-old boy on Claremont Road around 7.15pm on Friday night. The investigations are ongoing. The log number is 994 19/06/22.”
