Liverpool host Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Monday.
It wasn’t the start the Reds wished for from Jurgen Klopp as they attempted to go one step better than a season ago in the 2022/23 title race.
Aleksandar Mitrovic was her nemesis when newly promoted Fulham pinned her in the street at Craven Cottage last Saturday.
The only bright spot came from Darwin Nunez as the summer signing scored in his first appearance in the English top flight.
The Eagles also failed to fully fly, as Arsenal defeated them at Selhurst Park on opening night.
Liverpool won both of these two sides’ encounters last season, securing a 3-0 win at Anfield before winning 3-1 away.
Here’s everything you need to know:
When is the game?
The game takes place on Monday 15 August with kick-off at Anfield 8 p.m.
What TV channel is it on?
The game will be broadcast on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League.
What’s new from the team?
Klopp hopes Thiago Alcantara’s absence with a hamstring problem will be just four weeks. The Spain midfielder was sent off in last weekend’s Fulham draw and the original forecast could see him through to possibly the end of September.
Joel Matip has a groin injury and will be out while Ibrahima Konate is also sidelined, paving the way for Joe Gomez to start alongside Virgil van Dijk in defence.
New signing Nunez could replace Roberto Firmino after impressing from the bench at Fulham, while either Harvey Elliott or Fabio Carvalho are likely to replace Thiago in midfield.
For the visitors, Michael Olise could come into play through injury while James McArthur and James Tomkins are absent. Nathan Ferguson is also unavailable.
Liverpool: Alison; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Elliot; Diaz, Nunez, Salah
Crystal Palace: Guaita, Clyne, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell, Doucoure, Schlupp, Eze, Ayew, Zaha, Edouard
They weren’t themselves a week ago but the Reds still have an impressive record at home and should be too strong for the Eagles here. Liverpool 3-0 Crystal Palace
