Liverpool are looking to keep Jurgen Klopp at Anfield beyond 2024 as a new deal pushes the agenda

Liverpool are looking to escalate negotiations over a new deal to keep manager Jurgen Klopp at Anfield beyond 2024.

A new deal is understood to have been put on the agenda after Mike Gordon, president of owners Fenway Sports Group, flew in for the Champions League win over Villarreal, putting the Reds within reach of a third final in five seasons.

The club are believed to have been heartened by positive noise from Klopp’s camp, with his agent Marc Kosicke sitting in the directors’ box alongside Gordon to watch the 2-0 win over the visiting Spain side.

Klopp joined Anfield in October 2015 and, after immediately guiding the club to the finals of the League Cup and Europa League in his first season, signed an improved contract until 2022 at the end of that season.

A new four-and-a-half-year contract was agreed in 2019, but there is now hope that he could potentially extend his stay for another four years.
