Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is back on the pitch after his period of isolation ended following a bout of coronavirus.

“I’m happy, even if I know both can do much better because they’re real talents,” he said.

Klopp says he is excited for the Northern Ireland international’s future and believes he can develop into a top talent if he continues to progress at his current rate.

The German added: “I’m really happy about that and I’m happy about a lot of things. Conor can play and show how good he can be and how good he can become in the future. .”

Meanwhile, Klopp said that the Covid outbreak that led to the postponement of Liverpool’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg at Arsenal was due to a lot of false positive covid test results.

He said right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold was the only player to actually test positive for the virus: “Last week we had a proper outbreak and it shows that we have had lots of false positives but the rules are the same these false positive players can’t play.

“The only real positive came from Trent Alexander-Arnold and all the rest were false positives.”
