Mohamed Salah’s recent heartbreak on international duty for Egypt could be something for him Liverpool to use while chasing a historic quadruple.

The Reds have already won the Carabao Cup after the defeat Chelsea on penalties. They have also reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup and the quarterfinals of the Champions Leaguewhile trailing just three points First League Set the table Manchester City.

The stage is set for a grandstand finish to the season for Jurgen Klopp’s men, who need Salah in top form if they are to succeed. The Egyptian is currently the Premier League’s top scorer after enjoying a stellar season for his club.

But things were not going well for the 28-year-old on the international front. First, his Egyptian side lost to Senegal on penalties in the Africa Cup of Nations final, while Salah is yet to win a trophy with his country.

Then on Tuesday night they were again defeated on penalties by The Lions of Teranga to miss out on a place at the World Cup in Qatar. After that defeat, Salah hinted that he might retire from international football.

Salah was heartbroken after missing the crucial penalty in the shootout, despite being forced to deal with an onslaught of lasers shining into his eyes. That’s something Liverpool could capitalize on in the final weeks of the season.

After missing out on an Africa Cup of Nations trophy and a spot at football’s most prestigious tournament, Salah will surely be itching to win as many trophies as possible with the Reds. He will likely play as many games as his run-in fitness allows, with the Reds being the only remaining club capable of winning quadruple titles.

Salah was in devastating form for much of the campaign, with his heartbreak in Egypt perhaps serving as further motivation to help Klopp’s side win silver. His team-mates at Anfield certainly believe Salah can channel his disappointment in a positive way, with Virgil van Dijk making it clear he believes the attacker will play for the Reds.

“Did he lose? Well of course I feel sorry for Mo and for Egypt but football is like that sometimes. I am sure he will turn disappointment into success for the rest of the season. So we still have everything to play for. ” still has a lot to achieve for him,” said Van Dijk after the Netherlands’ draw with Germany.

Klopp will certainly be hoping Salah Van Dijk’s comments will heed two big fortnights into Liverpool’s season. In just over a week they travel to Manchester City knowing that a win will propel them to the top of the Premier League.

Before this gigantic clash comes the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League against Benfica. The second leg of that clash also comes just three days before the Reds meet City at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals.

If Liverpool’s quadruple bid is to remain intact over the next two weeks, Salah will need to be at his best. And after suffering such a disappointment with Egypt, he has the perfect motivation to bring all three remaining trophies to Anfield.
