As Liverpool continue to try to find a way to re-agree with star player Mohamed Salah, the coming week will be even more crucial for those negotiations.
If the two sides fail to reach an agreement and the Egyptian star is moved on, Barcelona could be a very interested party as manager Xavi is keen on making Salah the focal point of this revamped Barcelona.
The Spaniard converted the Catalan giants in a short space of time and sees Salah as a crucial addition for his side to take the next step.
Meanwhile on the horizon is a FA Cup Semi-final against Man City and fans have received some bad news regarding the game’s venue after filing a complaint with the FA.
Here are Mirror football latest Liverpool headlines.
Liverpool’s Salah dilemma
Liverpool and Mohamed Salah have hit a brick wall in agreeing a new deal and the next few days could have big implications for the future.
Salah and Egypt meet Mohamed Salah’s Senegal in a World Cup qualifier, with the loser missing out on a place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Given the amount of football the pair have played in the last 12 months and the toll the Africa Cup of Nations final took on both players, a break for one of the Reds stars might not be the end of the world.
And should it be Salah watching the World Cup from home, that extra calm could mean Liverpool are more willing to give Salah a contract, which he wants.
Barcelona Eye Salah
Without confirmation that Salah will remain at Liverpool beyond his current contract, the Reds could be tempted to sell the star rather than lose him for free.
Should Liverpool sell the attacker, Barcelona are seen as huge admirers of the Egyptian as manager Xavi looks to steer the club back to the top of European football after recent failures. The Spaniard is on track to bring the Catalan club giants back to football and the addition of Salah will help Barcelona achieve their goals.
Xavi sees Salah as his ideal number 9 should the club fail to win the services of Borussia Dortmund Erling Haland and it is believed that Barcelona could fall this summer.
FA offers transport for fans
Liverpool meet Man City in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley Stadium but face a major problem as there are no direct trains to London from either Liverpool or Manchester.
The big issue led to fans from both sides asking to move the game to a more appropriate venue on April 16. With the FA turning down the offer, they have returned with what they feel is a suitable alternative when it comes to traveling for the mammoth tie for a place in the FA Cup final.
“The FA will charter 100 buses from Anfield and Etihad Stadium to Wembley Stadium and back. This will ensure that up to 5,000 Liverpool and Manchester City Fans can travel to Wembley Stadium for their semi-final match free of charge,” read an FA statement.
