Inter tie stopped because of emergency

Liverpool’s Champions League match against Inter Milan was halted at half-time on Tuesday night following a medical emergency in the Anfield crowd.

The match was stopped immediately by referee Antonio Mateu after Reds manager Jurgen Klopp, as well as several fans and players, drew attention to the incident in the stands.

The players on both sides also quickly gathered on the sidelines when the game was stopped and medical staff rushed to help the fans.

Red Devils keep marching

Liverpool’s quartet of hopes continued despite a 0-1 Champions League defeat to Inter Milan on Tuesday night.

The Reds entered the game with a 2-0 lead from the first leg at the San Siro, and it proved important as Jurgen Klopp’s men reached the next round.

Lautaro Martinez’s 61st-minute goal gave the visitors a chance to reverse the deficit but Alexis Sanchez’s red card for a second foul less than two minutes later scuppered their hopes.

Tears of Jordan Henderson

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has recalled the moment former Reds boss Brendan Rodgers told him the club were ready to sell him to Fulham.

The incident happened in 2012 shortly after Rodgers arrived at Anfield when the Reds tried to bring in Cottagers striker Clint Dempsey.

Fulham wanted Henderson to move in the opposite direction, and so Rodgers spoke to the player ahead of the Europa League game against Hearts, the Reds captain recalls.

But the former Liverpool boss gave Henderson the option of a move, and after admitting he had “crying a bit” in his room, the midfielder reacted perfectly to the conversation.
