Sadio Mane says he “knows” how well new Liverpool signing Luis Diaz is after the Colombian’s arrival at Anfield added competition for a spot in the Reds’ first-team squad.

Liverpool signed Diaz in the closing hours of a January transfer deal for an initial fee of £37.5m, which could rise to £50m depending on performance-related add-ons.

And Mane has responded to the arrival of a new signing at the club, which comes as he is winning the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal.

It comes as Jamie Carragher has told his former club they have a “ready replacement” to succeed Mohamed Salah during the Red Devils attack.

Liverpool thrashed Inter Milan in their Champions League last-16 tie at the San Siro on Wednesday night, as goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah gave them a big advantage for the second leg. at Anfield.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes Harvey Elliott can replace Mohamed Salah in the Reds’ attack.

Salah has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Anfield, leading to speculation that he could leave the club if he does not sign a new contract before the end of the season.

The Egypt forward will certainly leave big boots to fill if he leaves, but Carragher believes Elliott could be a ‘ready replacement’.

The former defender explained exactly what it is about Elliott that excites him, comparing the 18-year-old to a number of young players who have previously been promoted at Liverpool.
