Australian cricket legend Warne said goodbye with a private funeral

Liz Hurley was pictured leaning on her son after the tragic death of her ex Shane Warne.

The model and actress wore an all-black outfit as she was spotted in public for the first time since the cricket legend died aged 52 of a suspected heart attack.

She was seen clutching Damian’s hand as they drove to west London the day before a private funeral service for Shane in his native Australia.

And Liz, 56, shared her sadness that she couldn’t be there to say goodbye, saying: “My heart aches that I won’t be able to be in Australia for Shane’s funeral tomorrow.

“I was filming last night and I can’t physically get there due to the time warp.”

Sharing snaps from their time together, she added: “These pictures were taken in Sri Lanka to celebrate our engagement – we all had our children with us and it was the happiest of times. It’s still not really clear that he’s gone.

“It seems too cruel that all the people who loved him will never have a lion hug again, but our memories will live forever. RIP Lionheart, love, your Luna.”

Liz split from Shane in 2013 after a three-year romance, but they remained close.

She was devastated by his death, as was 19-year-old Damian, who paid tribute to him after the sad news broke.

Shane and Liz were together for three years

Liz had posted on Instagram at the time: ” I feel like the sun has gone behind a cloud forever. RIP my beloved lionheart”.

And Damian wrote: “ I’m still trying to think about it…SW was a father figure to me for most of my formative years and truly was one of the best men I’ve ever known. My heart is broken. Thinking of and sending love to all of the SW family.”

When they were photographed together this week, Liz and Damian both looked serious as they supported each other.

Both of them hid their eyes behind sunglasses and wore dark clothes, they held hands and glued tightly to each other.

Liz was working on the film “Christmas in the Caribbean” before meeting her son.

Liz and Shane are known to have dated from 2010 to 2013 and were engaged to be married before their split.

And just last year, rumors circulated that they had reunited.

However, Shane wasn’t happy about the untrue reports and lashed out at a magazine after suggesting they had reignited their romance.

He raged on Twitter at the time: “For 30 years my children and I have had to put up with your lies and fabricated stories – not anymore.

“You shouldn’t be allowed to make things up. You will apologize to the Australian public for your constant lies and to my family as this is an absolute disgrace – AGAIN!

“And for that small minority out there who want to respond with smart comments — imagine what it would be like if someone was constantly making up stories about you and making them public for 30 years and the impact that is having on your mental health and your families!”

Shane has previously spoken openly about how difficult it was for him to be in a relationship with the model and Hollywood star, describing the interest that surrounded them as “an absolute circus”.

He once said, “We couldn’t go anywhere else because everywhere we went we only had 30-40 people, photographers, news crews.

“We had seven cars following us and a helicopter overhead following us straight through, running red lights and cutting off in front of us.”

Despite the drama, the sports star once told the Mirror that his years with Liz were the happiest of his life.

He had confessed: “I miss the love we had. My years with Elizabeth were the happiest of my life. I wanted to be better with her.”

And he also once admitted he was disappointed their relationship was over, adding: “[I’m] pretty sad it’s over because I still care about her very much and she’s a wonderful person.”

A private ceremony for Shane was held this weekend at St Kilda Football Ground in Melbourne.

His heartbroken children were seen kissing his coffin as they said goodbye to the sports star.
