Liz Truss agrees to interview with BBC’s Nick Robinson

Liz Truss has agreed to interview veteran political journalist Nick Robinson.

Mr Tory, who leads the way, will take part in a 1-1 interview at 7pm on 30 August on BBC One, the BBC News Press Team tweeted on Thursday.

Ms Truss’ rival in the race for No 10, Rishi Sunak sat down with Mr Robinson last week, while the Secretary of State appears to have turned down the invitation so far.

Ms Truss has also so far refused to be interviewed by veteran broadcaster Andrew Neil on Channel 4, while Mr Sunak has to deal with his barbecue.

However, she faced questions from a GB News audience in Leigh, Greater Manchester, during an hour-long show last week, something Mr Sunak has so far dodged.

Mr Robinson, who is also the presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, tweeted on Wednesday: “I interviewed @RishiSunak on BBC One a week ago for ‘Our next Prime Minister – interviews. ‘ As I said on the show, we also wanted to do an in-depth interview with Liz Truss. We still hope she finds her time.” Liz Truss agrees to interview with BBC’s Nick Robinson
