Liz Truss has made three important promises to people across Britain after she was announced as the winner of the Conservative Party leadership race and as the next British Prime Minister.
The former foreign minister will replace the outgoing one Boris Johnson after bringing Rishi Sunak to the post following a conservative leadership contest.
The announcement was made today at the QEII conference center in central London, on the same day Parliament returns.
Speaking at the conference on Monday, she vowed to “present a bold plan to cut taxes and grow the economy”, tackle the energy crisis including long-term supply and “deliver the NHS”.
Truss is the third Conservative prime minister since 2016when David Cameron quit after losing the Brexit vote, and will oversee a party that remains bitterly divided over Mr Johnson’s legacy and his future direction.

Liz Truss sends a message to “friend” Boris Johnson
Liz Truss praised ‘my friend’ Boris Johnson as she accepted her victory in the Tory leadership contest.
She said: “I would also like to thank our outgoing leader, my friend Boris Johnson.”
She continued: “Boris, you pulled through on Brexit, you crushed Jeremy Corbyn, you introduced the vaccine and you stood up to Vladimir Putin. They were admired from Kyiv to Carlisle.”
There was a delay before the audience’s applause.
