Jennifer Garner has simple advice for her kids when it comes to beauty and aging.
The 50-year-old actress, who has long been a natural beauty advocate, revealed the beauty advice she would pass on to her two daughters with ex-husband Ben Affleck: Violet Anne, 16, and Seraphina Rose, 13. The ex-couple shares also son Samuel, 10.
“My beauty advice is always the same: look in the mirror less, obsess less, and look at the rest of the world to see what you could do with your time instead,” Garner told Harper’s Bazaar.
The 13 Going on 30 star noted that people are constantly looking at their faces these days and are “obsessed with change or how to fix something.” For them it is “not possible [anyone] any good one.”
“My advice is to look less in the mirror and be careful when it comes to splashing on your face,” she told the magazine. “Be very, very, very reasonable and wait as long as possible to add anything. Don’t think you’re 37 and need to shoot your face up. You don’t have to wear as much makeup or have such a constant blowout.”
Garner offered the same advice during an interview with Entertainment Tonight’s Rachel Smith earlier this year.
At the time, the mother of three emphasized the importance of “Look[ing] less in the mirror” and instead spending more time “looking out” and focusing on what you can do for other people.
“I swear it will make you feel prettier and better,” Garner told ET.
But while Garner doesn’t spend too much time in the mirror, the actress still has a great daily hair routine.
“My day usually starts with a really hard workout,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “Then it gets really gross, so I have to wash it… I always use a mask on the weekends to treat my hair.”
She said she finishes it off with towel dry, styling cream and anti-frizz spray.
Several celebrities have expressed reservations about injectable drugs over the years, including Jennifer Lopez, who married Garner’s ex earlier this month.
Last year, Lopez clapped back at an Instagram critic who accused her of “definitely [having] Botox. And tons of it.”
The singer replied: “LOL that’s just my face!!! For the 500 millionth time… I’ve never had botox or any other injections or surgeries!!”
