Loom announces major platform update to meet growing demand for asynchronous work solutions

The redesigned Loom HQ is designed to build cohesion and connection for hybrid teams working from anywhere.

Loom today launched Early Access for the next iteration of its asynchronous video platform. The redesigned, intelligent Loom HQ enables communication, collaboration and connection at work. The new workspace offers an improved user experience and brand new features. It’s designed to improve the way teams discover and organize content, share knowledge, and grow the community.

As many employers begin to reopen offices, it is clear that the world of work has changed forever. 84 per cent of UK managers say their company has now adopted hybrid working and 83 per cent of workers say hybrid is what they want employers to do. Industry giants — including Microsoft, Atlassian, Google, and others — have invested in new roles like heads of remote. As employers abandon remote policies mandated by the pandemic, the responsibility lies in designing and adopting brand new roles, processes and solutions to support the modern workplace.

Loom, which began as a frictionless way to exchange fast video messages, has proven to be exponentially more valuable when deployed by teams and organizations at scale. Today, more than 14 million users in over 200,000 companies use Loom as a crucial tool for productivity, cohesion and connection between distributed teams. Today’s launch marks an important milestone in pursuing Loom’s mission to bring people closer together when working with video.

“We’ve seen incredible growth over the past few years, and we’ve seen customers innovate using Loom and its increasing convenience with video. Most excitingly, we’ve only scratched the surface; Video is still underused at work. TikTok, a video-only social platform, became the world’s #1 website by traffic from Google at the end of 2021. YouTube has 2.6 billion users. Asynchronous video is the next big revolution in work communications,” said Joe Thomas, CEO and co-founder of Loom.

“We envision a workday where you have the freedom and flexibility to start and end at your own time, made possible by asynchronous communication. Loom’s Video HQ is designed as an antidote to meeting fatigue by leveraging asynchronous video to replace and reduce meetings. Asynchronous video also builds a human connection that the constant barrage of text-based messages via email and chat cannot. The next few years will be challenging as we all need to figure out the best version of hybrid that works for our businesses. Now more than ever, the modern workplace requires technology that scales knowledge, fosters collaboration, and builds connections—regardless of where or what time zone your team is working. The next chapter of Loom is about using asynchronous video to show the success of an individual, and to show entire organizations how critical it will be to their success over the next decade.”

The new Loom HQ builds on Loom’s early libraries to provide a full-featured, intelligent workspace that’s easier and faster to use. Its core features and capabilities are built on years of listening to customer feedback and behavior.

  • Improved discoverability of information. Turn random updates into documented, scaled expertise. Executives can increase productivity with self-service access to everything from training and onboarding to product demos and project updates.
  • Seamless collaboration. New organization and interaction features like #tags and @mentions make it easier to break down silos and move work forward in a unified workspace.
  • Community Driven Engagement. Teams can foster a community of sharing and cohesion. New features like trend looms and the ability to follow profiles create a shared space for random interactions and connection building.

“Loom is already a significant lever for my personal productivity and flexibility at work. The updated video hub has only increased that impact tenfold. For one thing, I’m now discovering and tripping over looms that I might not have seen otherwise. The result is that I am much more involved in the knowledge, projects and ideas emerging across the organization,” said Tim Olshansky, CPTO, Zenput. “The insight I gain from being able to quickly and easily consume the looms posted that are most relevant to me is priceless. It evolves the impact of Loom by simply making my workday flow better and helping me be more effective as a cross-functional teammate at scale.”

Starting today, existing customers will have ongoing access to the new workspace. By Spring, all new and existing users will have access to the new Loom HQ. Visit our blog to learn more.
