Loose Women: Kaye and Linda clash with Boris Johnson
Loose Women studios have erupted into heated debate over Boris Johnson’s refusal to step down after he was fined for birthday bashing locked in No10.
The Prime Minister apologized for the course-breaking party, allegedly organized by his wife, and confirmed he had paid the fine after previously saying he had ‘followed the rules’.
Loose Women panelists Kaye Adams, Sunetra Sarker, Nadia Sawalha and Linda Robson turned to the topic at the start of Thursday’s episode of the daytime ITV programme.
Nadia immediately hit back at host Denise Welch’s comments on the previous day’s show that Boris Johnson did not need to resign due to a police fine.
Linda responded by stressing that the Prime Minister did not organize the party himself, adding: “He almost died a few weeks before, he was hospitalized with Covid. He made a mistake.”

Kaye was quick to respond as the atmosphere turned tense, saying: “Linda, this is a leader man. Leaders should lead. They should not make excuses for doing wrong. Leaders should set an example, have integrity, do what they say.”
Linda replied, “They still meet every day to discuss what’s going on in the country,” Kaye quickly asked, “Why do you want to make excuses?”
Linda continued, defending, saying: “There is nothing we can compare this to. Nothing like this has ever happened to us in all these years.”
Sunetra then weighed in, telling Linda: “That’s why it’s so serious. This has never happened to us before. Lockdown is brand new. So it was serious to that extent.”

Nadia added: “This has hurt a lot of people and the Tories keep telling us we have to get over it because it happened two years ago.”
After receiving some replies from her co-stars, Linda replied that she “fully understands” that people have lost loved ones during the lockdown, but again backtracked to the fact that Boris Johnson had Don’t host the party yourself.

“They just brought him a cake and said happy birthday,” she said. It was the people around him that organized it.”
Nadia then said: “What do you think of all the times he stood in the Houses of Parliament and said there were no rules to be broken? The rest of the world will look at our dishonest government and wonder how we deal with it. It’s shameful.”
Linda replied, “He just went to a meeting. He thought he would talk about what was going on in the country. He didn’t bring the cake, he didn’t throw the party.”
Linda then noted that the Prime Minister paid the £50 fixed penalty notice yesterday, given on his birthday June 2020 in his honor.
Sunetra later downplayed the heated conversation, saying: “We can’t put all this on Linda. I understand what you’re saying in some respects because the party itself sounds trite. But he was arrested again and again.”
Loose Women airs at 12:30 a.m. weekdays on ITV
