The stars of The Lord of the Rings series have condemned the “relentless” racist abuse and harassment that the actors of Amazon’s recent Rings Of Power series endured.
lijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd and Dominic Monoghan, who played the famous Hobbit quartet in the original trilogy, all shared posts of solidarity online with the caption, “Hello all. pick it up here”.
It comes after the actors of the latest series, which premiered last week on the giant TV channel, were subjected to racist comments about its decision to cast people of color in the roles of elves, who Dwarfs and Harfoots, among other fictional races.
Writing on Twitter, Wood and Astin both shared pictures of themselves wearing clothes with pointed ears in different colors.
The articles also had the words “All is welcome here”, written in the Elvish language.
In a joint statement also posted online, members of the Amazon series said they “refuse to condone or tolerate” abuse.
“We, the cast of Rings of Power, come together in absolute solidarity and stand against the relentless racism, threats, harassment and abuse some of our actors of color are facing. face every day,” the statement read.
“We refuse to ignore or tolerate it.
“JRR Tolkien has created a world that is, by definition, multicultural.
“A world in which free peoples from different races and cultures come together, in fellowship, to defeat the forces of evil. Rings of Power reflects that.

The statement thanked fans of color for their “love and camaraderie,” who have also received abuse.
“We see you, your endless courage and creativity. Your overlays, fancams, fan art and insights enrich this community and remind us of our purpose,” it continued.
“You are valuable, you are liked, and you belong. You are an integral part of the LOTR family – thank you for our support.”
Lord Of The Rings: Rings Of Power premieres on Amazon Prime on September 2.
The film’s cast of black actors includes Sir Lenny Henry, Sophia Nomvete and Ismael Cruz Cordova.
