Lorry driver (aged 60) who got off the M8 motorway taken to hospital, road section closed

Emergency services took a lorry driver, 60, to Cork University Hospital last night after the vehicle he was driving went off the motorway in Co Tipperary.
Ardaí was present at the scene of the road accident on the M8 southbound at Junction 6 in Thurles, Co. Tipperary at around 7pm last night, Thursday 12 May.
“A trailer truck went off the road. The driver of the truck, a man in his 60s, was taken to Cork University Hospital by ambulance services,” Gardaí said.
Gardaí could not provide any information on the condition of the man.
The M8 is currently closed in both directions, northbound and southbound, between junctions 6 (The Horse and Jockey) and 7 (Cashel) and detours are in place.
Drivers are advised to take an alternative route and expect delays.
