The Games Awards are a huge celebration of video games that are put on at the end of each year. Thousands of spectators watch it every year and so video game developers love to have their own games featured on it. What’s better if your own game wins the prize. Celeste was one of the big winners of 2018, but never seemed to get a real title… at least until it was rediscovered by a YouTuber who happened to be on eBay.
PrestigeIsKey, aka Ryan B., is a YouTuber and streamer. He’s always wanted a copy of the Game Award trophy, so he’s been scouring eBay for the past 5 years to see if there’s one. Finally, he came across a listing for $500 that had one. After making an offer for $375, the seller accepted and passed it on to Ryan. The seller isn’t even in the business of video games, and its other listings include car parts, silencers, and engine components. Even on the listing, the seller admits that they don’t know the origin of the trophy.
