Lottery bosses reveal where the EuroMillions winning ticket worth a staggering €500,000 is as player hasn’t claimed a prize yet

A LUCKY lottery player in Cork won a life-changing prize worth €500,000 in Tuesday night’s EuroMillions Plus draw.

The identity of the Rebel County winner remains a mystery as they have yet to come forward to claim their prize – but the place where the ticket was purchased has finally been revealed.

The winning ticket, valued at €500,000, was sold on the day of the draw (27th December) at The Centra on Rochestown Road in Rochestown, Cork.

The shop’s owner, Terry Murphy, was pleased to receive the call that his shop had sold the winning lottery ticket and said: “We are a local residential shop that has been open since 1995.

“We are very pleased that one of our customers has been so fortunate. It’s a great start to the new year for him and we wish him all the best with his win.”

Mr Murphy also revealed that this isn’t the first time the store has sold a winning ticket.

He explained: “Already in lockdown in 2020 we sold a €1m Daily Million ticket grand prize.

“It caused quite a stir around town and we hope this latest win will do the same. We wish them all the best with their winnings.”

The massive win in Cork is the 25th EuroMillions Plus top prize win in Ireland in 2022.

The winning numbers from Tuesday’s EuroMillions Plus draw were: 15, 19, 36, 40 and 45.

A player from Portugal hit the EuroMillions jackpot worth €26,956,990 on Tuesday night.

This means that Friday’s jackpot now rises to an estimated €17 million.

The lucky Rebel County winner was advised to sign the back of their ticket and keep it safe.

In a statement today, the National Lotto said: “The winner should contact the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email Claims@lottery.ie and arrangements will be made for their prize to be redeemed can claim.

“Almost 30 cents of every euro spent on all National Lottery games goes back to charities in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish language.

“In total, more than €6 billion has been raised for charity since the National Lottery was founded 35 years ago. In 2021 alone, €304 million was raised for local charities in communities across Ireland.”
