Laura Hoyle finds out she gained £10,000 every month for the next 30 years

A couple who have won £3.6million in the lottery are sneaking in as they use their lucky break to fund their dream of becoming professional ghostbusters.

Laura Hoyle, 40, and Kirk Stevens, 38, thought they’d only won a five when the Set For Life draw took place last March.

Instead they raked in £10,000 a month for the next 30 years after matching all six numbers.

But it’s not just a new house, lavish holidays and fine dining for the Nottingham couple put their monthly cash injection to work.

The lucky couple, who went almost two weeks unaware they’d won the life-changing amount, have a brand new career path and are using a portion of their winnings to make it happen.

Laura, from Hucknall, Notts, said: “Kirk and I participate in a lot of other paranormal activities and I edit the videos we make which I absolutely love.

“I’m getting better and better at editing and recently one of our videos was voted one of their video of the week by a top ghostbusting YouTuber.

“It’s like getting paid to edit video for the next 30 years.

Now they are planning new careers – as ghost hunters!

“Without the win we would not have been able to tick a big item on the wish list – visit the National Justice Museum in Nottingham after hours and spend time researching there. There have been many journeys and there will be many more to come. “

It wasn’t until Laura received a message from Camelot and logged into her account that she realized they had landed the top jackpot prize.

A year after their win, video footage was released of the incredible moment the couple received confirmation that they had just become millionaires.

Laura can be seen on the phone exclaiming, “You’re kidding! I think I’m going to be sick,” while Camelot’s call handler breaks them the good news.

Laura says the win still “feels unreal,” and she’s now quit her job to become a professional paranormal investigator alongside manufacturing engineer Kirk.

Recalling the life changing call, Laura added: “I received a notification shortly after the draw saying there was ‘good news about my ticket’ but I just assumed I’d won a fiver.

“I even continued playing for several more Set For Life draws before receiving an email from The National Lottery asking me to log into my account and check my messages.

“I thought that was weird and even asked Kirk if he thought it was real or not.

“It was a Friday afternoon, I was working from home and I finally checked my account and saw there were a lot of notifications. Then the penny finally dropped that we should call Camelot quickly.

“I was physically shaking as I said to the lady, ‘I think I won the lottery.’

“It was so weird saying those words. I always thought it must be a joke, it can’t happen to us.

“And the ridiculous part was that while I was waiting for Camelot to call me back, I still had to attend work meetings online. I could barely speak, let alone make sense.

“It still hasn’t really arrived. I say this, but I immediately quit my job and am doing things I normally wouldn’t have been able to do. I think it’s all still surreal.

“I’m so relaxed about everything now, very relaxed and that’s what the win did for me.

“We’re moving into a new house this month and it’s so stress free because I’m not working now.”

Engineer Kirk is also a highly skilled carpenter and says he will use both talents to start a new business.

He said, “I want to make paranormal investigation products using my woodwork and electronic skills.

“I know what people want, I have the skills and I have the opportunity now to make it work.

“I’m in the last year of my master’s degree in mechanical engineering. As Laura said, the win has allowed us to take care of bills. I used the profit to pay for the course.

“I want to keep working and making progress, which was the reason for the Masters.”
