Louise Minchin joined Michelle Ackerley and Josh Widdicombe in the celebrity version of Tipping Point as she opened up about her husband David’s cancer battle
Louise Minchin revealed her husband’s cancer battle as she tried to raise money for the charity that supported him.
Former I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! The contestant says his partner David was diagnosed with the disease when he was 28.
Appearing on Sunday’s Tipping Point: Lucky Stars, she opened up about what he’s been going through.
Louise wanted to raise money to support Move, the organization that helps people cope with cancer.
She joined Michelle Ackerley and Josh Widdicombe in the celebrity version of the ITV show and the ex-BBC breakfast presenter became the second star to be eliminated from the game.
But Louise made it to the second round of the match and faced off against Josh to reach the final round.
However, she got several questions wrong, meaning she didn’t have a chance of winning as many counters from the machine as she had hoped.
Josh, on the other hand, managed to steal a number of counters from the machine and took the lead with a jump.
As a result, Louise dropped out of the show but still took home £2,600 for her charity.
Host Ben Shepherd said: “Louise, unfortunately we’ve found your tipping point but the good news is you’ve won £2600 for your charity. Can you tell us what that is?”
“Oh, thanks for that,” Louise replied. “You’ve already heard that I’m a bit passionate about sports.
“This charity is called Move and it works with people who have or are affected by cancer to get them moving.
“My husband had cancer when he was 28 so he would have benefited greatly from a charity like this.
“That’s where the money goes.”
Ben replied: “What a fantastic charity and I’m thrilled you came to play. Louise Minchin everyone!”
Previously, Louise was accused of being grumpy.
Fans of the show took to Twitter to share their thoughts when she started latching on to answers prematurely, leaving her contestants in the dust.
One fan said: “Louise honked her horn way too soon!”
Another added: “Read the question after the siren finish!”
Josh made the most of his place in the final, walking away with a whopping £20,000 for his chosen charity.
