Michael Owen said his daughter Gemma Owen “made us proud” after the finale of ITV’s reality show Love Island.
Emma and her partner Luca Bish finished in second place on the show, losing to Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti, on Monday night.
Posting a photo of himself and his daughter in a restaurant, Owen wrote on Twitter: “She makes us proud.”
Prior to Gemma’s appearance on the show, the former Liverpool striker, 42, described the experience as “a father’s worst nightmare”.
Speaking to ITV, he said: “I have no doubt that she would make all of us proud.
“It was probably a father’s worst nightmare, but she did whatever she wanted. You must be supported. “
He later joked that he went “as far as Germany” to “avoid” watching his daughter on the show while commenting on an England Nations League match in June.
