Love Island fans are gearing up for the return of one of the summer’s biggest programming events, with the new series set to begin next month.
Just in case you have no idea what Love Island is, it’s a reality TV show in which a group of single people enter a luxury mansion for several weeks in hopes of finding love and possibly £50,000 in prize money .
When does it start?
No exact start date has been announced but the show’s producers, ITV, have confirmed it will air in June. A June 6 release date has been heavily rumoured.
Where can I watch it?
Recent series have been broadcast in Ireland on weekdays and Sundays at 9pm on Virgin Media.
Who will host it?
Irish TV presenter Laura Whitmore is set to return to host this year’s Love Island series.
More importantly, who will be the narrator?
Her husband, comedian Iain Sterling, will also return to comically narrate the program.
Where is filming?
ITV has also confirmed that this season will be filmed in a villa in a new location on the Spanish island of Mallorca.
Since hitting Irish and UK screens a few years ago, hit reality TV shows have captivated audiences and launched the careers of Irish stars Maura Higgins and Greg O’Shea.
video of the day
A trailer for the upcoming series, released last week, says that 224 islanders have “walked through the doors of famed Love Island mansions in slow motion” since the series began.
The animated video featured a caricature of last year’s winner, Millie Court, playing a keyboard by the pool.
It also poked fun at Love Island’s rivals: Love Is Blind and Too Hot to Handle, both of which were produced by Netflix.
“This summer love isn’t blind, she’s neon and we can definitely handle the heat — we’ve got a fire pit mate,” the trailer joked.
Ahead of the new series, ITV said: “Love Island is the OG of dating shows and after 7 years of matchmaking, marriages and babies – for 8 weeks this summer we officially own love. So step back, all show-offs – love is ours.”
Any rumors about this year’s line-up?
No participants have been confirmed yet, but several influencers on both sides of the Irish Sea have recently given hints that they may be attending.
Irish Tiktok star Eabha O’Donoghue, who also has over 22,000 Instagram followers, recently gave strong indications that she will be entering the mansion by posting online that read ’28 days to go’ next to a palm tree and shared calming emojis.
Gemma Owens is perhaps best known as the daughter of former Liverpool and England striker Michael Owens. The 19-year-old also has her own swimwear brand. Gemma is rumored to be performing poolside in June.
Influencer Brian McDermott has strong family ties to the program as his sister Zara previously took part in the series. He is also rumored to be entering the mansion.
