Love Island fans have been raving about how this year’s starting lineup went for the show.

With over 100,000 toned singles flooding producers with apps to step into the mansion in towering wedges or designer flip-flop makers will be spoiled for choice for those looking for love. .

But despite the selection, only three Islanders were initially selected from those who actively applied – the rest were handpicked by the producers.

While the number stunned fans when it was announced by Mail Online, it is not the lowest number of applicants in any series. Back in 2019, Amy Hart was the only OG to bother applying – and she left early after Curtis Pritchard turned her down for Maura Higgins.

Those approached included Gemma, daughter of Michael Owen, and first deaf contestant Tasha Ghouri.

A source told MailOnline: “There have been close to 100,000 applications this year, about the same as most years, but the final cast doesn’t reflect that.”
