Love Island: Gemma Owen says her father will be in a relationship with Luca Bish

Love Island’s producers are trying to get Michael Owen to show up in the mansion during the final week’s “meet the parents” mission, a former Island resident said.

Blazing Squad’s Marcel Somerville, who appeared on the ITV2 show in 2017, says that producers are keen to give Gemma Owen a positive storyline after some viewers initially disliked her.

“What Love Island wants to do is let Michael Owen go through the doors – that would be the gold of television,” Marcel said during the Poke House Covent Garden premiere.

“Their goal is to have a heroic arc and I feel like it’s coming to an end. She’s who they want to be – they brought her ex-boyfriend into the mansion for a reason, because she has more dimension to her.

“At first, she looked pretty clumsy and like she had rights, but now she’s become more normal.”

As the series approaches its finale, the contestants’ families enter the mansion and they get to meet their relative’s new partner.

In 2018, Danny Dyer appeared via Skype to tell his daughter Dani that he approved of her boyfriend. On last night’s show, Gemma’s partner, fish hunter Luca Bish, was robbed by new rival Danica Taylor, shocking the islanders.

Gemma has reunited with her former partner, Davide Sanclimenti – but only as friends.

Her ex-boyfriend Jacques O’Neill joined the show a week after the series, much to Gemma’s surprise.

Former footballer Michael, pictured with Gemma, described his daughter being on the show as “a father’s worst nightmare”.
