Love Island stars Gemma Owen and Luca Bish announce their split

Luca Bish and Gemma Owen announced their split less than 4 months after leaving their villa on Love Island.

His couple met on the eighth series of the popular ITV2 dating show, which aired earlier this year.

Both Bish, 23, and Owen, 19, confirmed the news in separate posts on their Instagram Stories.

Owen, daughter of former England footballer Michael Owen, wrote: “To all my followers. I want to let you know that Luca and I are no longer romantically involved.

“It was not an easy decision but in the end it is what is best for both of us right now.

“Many of you have been on this journey with us since the beginning, and I want to thank you for your continued support as we begin new chapters.

“Always love, Gem x”

Bish, a former fishmonger, was one of the original contestants on the series in 2022 and placed second alongside Owen.

Speaking of her own Instagram stories, Bish wrote: “I turned my phone back on after taking a moment to clear my mind after an emotional afternoon of thousands of messages and articles about my life. my farewell.

“I would have liked to have had time to deal with this privately but as you all know, Gemma and I made the joint decision earlier today to go our separate ways.

“We have been on such a journey together and have made some wonderful memories that I will cherish.

“I cannot thank everyone enough for their support of us as a couple during and after Love Island.

“We’ll remain good friends and I don’t want the best for her.”

During their time on Love Island, Owen insisted she wanted her family’s approval before taking the next step and making their relationship official.

After leaving the mansion in Majorca, Bish proposed to Owen as his girlfriend in a lavish proposal in August.

Bish and Owen won 14.5% of the public vote in the Love Island final, placing them behind the show’s winners Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti, who won with 63.7 %, according to ITV.
