Love Island star Jacques O’Neill has said he’s sorry if his recent behavior “caused offense” after fellow contestant Remi Lambert accused him of bullying.
He, a 23-year-old former rugby league player, said in a statement shared on his Instagram story on Thursday that he “probably hasn’t handled himself in the best way possible.” ” and he takes “full responsibility” for his actions.
This comes after model and rapper Lambert, 22, accused O’Neill and compatriot Luca Bish of bullying him while they were in the villa together.
Sharing a video of former rugby player and angler Bish talking about him on Instagram Live after the show, Lambert said: “Don’t know why they weren’t fired because their behavior was honest. Those are not jokes, those are clear signs of bullying.”
In a lengthy statement, O’Neill addressed the situation and apologized for his actions.
He wrote: “I just want to acknowledge the situation that is happening right now and apologize if my behavior has caused offense or was misinterpreted over the past few weeks.
“I don’t really have any bad feelings towards anyone and I have no intention of making anything happen that way. That was not my intention and I’m really sorry if it was.
“Life has been overwhelming lately and admittedly I probably haven’t handled myself in the best possible way.
“I take full responsibility for my actions. I know I’m far from perfect and I still have a lot of work to do. “
The rugby player also revealed he has now started therapy, adding: “I had my first session on Monday, which really took me out of my comfort zone, I know. i have needed this for years but now i decided to help.

“I knew it was a step in the right direction for me even after just one session.
“I am not asking for sympathy, I just want to see the situation and move forward as positively as possible.
“However, I know this can be used as an important lesson for me moving forward and in the years to come. I hope I can be who I want to be and use this new platform to spread a positive message.
“I apologize to anyone I have let down X.”
In the recent hit series of dating shows on ITV, O’Neill appeared like a bomb and quickly paired up with Paige Thorne, the Welsh health worker.
Their relationship soured after it was revealed that he kissed Cheyanne Kerr while Thorne was away at Casa Amor.
He spent days trying to win her back before announcing that he was leaving the mansion because he needed to “get back to himself”.
Before deciding to leave the show, the 23-year-old nearly had a physical argument with Adam Collard, who wanted to pursue Thorne.
Thorne then paired up with Collard and they placed 5th in the series dating together.
