Love Island’s Zara McDermott hospitalized in ‘severe pain’

Former Love Island contestant Zara McDermott was hospitalized after suffering “severe pain” in her abdomen.

The 25-year-old, who has made a series of TV documentaries since appearing on the ITV dating show, was treated for a suspected ovarian cyst rupture on Friday night.

Writing on Instagram, McDermott said she went back to the hospital Saturday morning for another ultrasound to check if her ovaries were torsion.

Sharing a picture of herself on her hospital bed, she wrote: “Wow last night was so eventful! Sam (Thompson, her boyfriend) had to take me to A&E because I had severe pain in my stomach…

“I have the feeling it’s a ruptured cyst in my ovary because I’ve had one on one side but on the other and it feels so much the same.”

McDermott thanked the A&E team for treating her, saying they completed all of her tests and scans within two hours.

In a second post, she also thanked her followers for their supportive messages, adding: “They found blood in my stomach, which definitely shows it’s a cyst. broke and nothing else.”

McDermott said her ovaries “look fine” and are not twisted before praising NHS staff as “amazing”.

Since appearing on Love Island in 2018, McDermott has made documentaries about revenge porn, sexual assault and disordered eating for the BBC. Love Island’s Zara McDermott hospitalized in ‘severe pain’
