Director Luca Guadagnino “immediately” planned Hollywood star Timothee Chalamet to star in the upcoming cannibal love story Bones And All while reading the script.

In her latest film, Chalamet plays a cannibal young man named Lee in a teenage romance opposite Taylor Russell, who plays Maren as they travel across America.

Arriving at the film’s premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on Saturday, Guadagnino told the PA news agency: “It was a great script by David Kajganich, he sent me the script and I couldn’t stop reading it.

“It was great and of course an honor to work with these amazing actors starting with Timothee which I immediately saw in the character of Lee when I read it.

“When you make a movie, you always want to make sure you do something unique and that is told through a unique texture and to be able to do this allegory with people like Timothee, Taylor, Mark (Rylance) and the rest. of the wonderful cast with writing by David Kajganich is a privilege. “

Speaking of having shot the film in US Ohio, he added: “I’ve been coming to the US for the last 25 years so I know it very well but I don’t know the midwest very well.

“Exploring the sheer beauty of people and their very specific places and ways of living there was quite revealing for me.”

The film is based on the novel by Camille DeAngelis, also starring Sir Mark Rylance.

Chalamet, wearing a white suit with matching white boots at the premiere, said: “I’d love to work with Luca again and something about street movies like Badlands, Bonnie And Clyde or those the movie doesn’t necessarily have a higher moral purpose but that as a TV show like Breaking Bad, gets you hooked on the characters, it’s fun to wrestle.

“I also want to go back to the standalone setup.”

Chalamet recently starred in the Warner Bros sci-fi drama Dune, adapted from Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel of the same name, with an all-star cast that includes Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, and Oscar Isaac.

Florence Pugh and Lea Seydoux are said to have joined the team for Dune: Part Two which will hit theaters in October 2023.
