Lucy Mecklenburgh reveals her young daughter was recently taken to the hospital

Former The Only Way Is Essex star Lucy Mecklenburgh revealed that her two-month-old daughter was recently taken to hospital with bronchiolitis, a chest infection that affects young children.

The 30-year-old reality TV star has two children with former Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas – two-year-old Roman and newborn Lilah.

Writing on her Instagram story, Mecklenburgh explained why she has been absent from the social media platform for a number of days.

“A lot of messages asked where I had been for five days,” she said.

“Unfortunately, Lilah had very bad bronchiolitis so we had to stay in the hospital for a few days. Now she is at home and doing well.

“I am clearly not in a position to give medical advice but this is our experience for parents who may want to know what happened and what to look out for.

“It all started with Roman having a very bad cough, I guess he picked it up at the kindergarten, then Lilah got sick and 3 days in she didn’t cope very well, sucking in her stomach, the cough got worse and worse. more, high temperature, cough and choking on milk. and her saliva.

“In the hospital, she needed some oxygen and was tube-fed for several days. She took a nasal swab that was positive for RSV causing bronchiolitis. Toothpicking is no longer a habit, but with Roman’s health issues, it was important for me to know exactly what she has.

“She’s home and happy, just a little sleepy and still coughing violently.”

She then shared a link to the NHS information page on bronchiolitis and information about breastfeeding a child with the infection.

Bronchiolitis is a common chest infection that can affect infants and children under two years of age.

In a separate post on her Instagram page, she shared more information about her daughter’s experience with the infection and its effect on Mecklenburgh’s ability to breastfeed.

Alongside the image of herself breastfeeding her young daughter, she wrote: “It’s #worldbreastfeedingweek and I want to share this epic moment with you guys.

“Since Sunday, Lilah has been hospitalized with bronchiolitis. She was tube fed and on oxygen.

“This is a special moment for her to be properly breastfed for the first time and it feels amazing. There are times in my bf journey with both of my kids I feel like I just want my body for a day and sometimes feel overwhelmed with a sense of responsibility that they are so dependent on me to be fed.

“This week, I feel lost when I can’t breastfeed, cuddle and play with my 2-month-old daughter. Although I rarely leave her side, I still miss her very much.

“There has been a lot of anxiety, a lot of pumping and so much gratitude to the NHS doctors and nurses for getting my baby healthy again.

“World Breastfeeding Week is about education, sharing, and support, so I wanted to share our breastfeeding week and some helpful resources that have helped me get linked in my stories. . X”

Mecklenburgh previously went public with her followers about her Roman’s health after she and her 38-year-old husband discovered their son had turned “green” while at in its kennel last year.

Roman was taken to hospital and later spent time in the intensive care unit at St Mary’s Hospital in London.
