Ukraine: Smoke fills the sky after explosions in Lviv

Three massive explosions have wreaked havoc near the Ukrainian city of Lviv, sending plumes of black smoke skyward.

Locals have been urged to take cover as an air raid alert is still in effect in the western Ukraine city.

In recent weeks, Lviv has become home to a large number of refugees after Russian troops invaded from the north, east and south of the country.

Regional Governor Maksym Kozytskyy said: “There were three powerful explosions near Lviv from the direction of Kryvchytsy, now there is an air raid warning, so keep calm and take shelter.”

Witnesses saw heavy black smoke billowing from the northeast side of town.

According to unconfirmed reports on social media, a fuel depot was hit in the airstrike.
