M50 traffic chaos: Six-vehicle collision on motorway, three people hospitalized ‘as a precaution’

Three people have been hospitalized after a six-vehicle accident on the M50 causing delays for motorists tonight.

The incident happened at Exit 9 Red Cow during rush hour traffic and firefighters and ambulances were soon on the scene.

“Three people have been taken to Tallaght University Hospital as a precaution. The road remains open,” said a spokesman for the Garda.

Traffic camera images show very heavy traffic in the area.

“The hard shoulder and auxiliary lane are being affected by significant delays on approach,” said a Dublin Fire Brigade spokesman.

However, following the earlier collision, all southbound lanes between Junction 7 Lucan and Junction 9 Red Cow were reopened.

“Traffic on approach remains heavy,” said the M50 Twitter account.

A Garda spokesman confirmed three people were hospitalized. It is believed no one will be seriously injured.
