Macklemore teases Tones And I collaboration – Billboard

Macklemore’s long-rumored collaboration with Tones And I seems to be in the pipeline, and now we know what it looks like.

The Grammy Award-winning rapper shared an excerpt on social media, with the musical man looking particularly pleased with himself as he tested the cut on his car’s audio system. “Can you guess who is singing on the hook,” he wrote.

Of course, it’s Toni Watson, aka Tones And I, who can be heard singing “I’m on fire,” and enlivens the song with a powerful stream of, “You’re not on fire.” can take my voice away from me. I will rise.”

The Australian singer-songwriter, who hit 2019’s “Dance Monkey,” is a huge fan of Macklemore, as is her hometown. Nearly a decade ago, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s “Thrift Shop” came in at number 1 on the third j Hottest 100 fan-voted countdown.

In a follow-up post, Tones revealed that “Chant” will soon be “real”. The song is “special,” she continued.

Tones teased the upcoming release last September with an Instagram post of the couple posing in the studio, and updated in January in an interview with triple j.

Tones explains: “This year, I might be releasing a song with my favorite artist – Macklemore.

Tones’ second album is the sequel to Welcome to the Asylumreached number 1 in Australia upon its release in July 2021, and featured her next hit “Fly Away”, which peaked at number 11 in the UK.

That viral hit dominated the sales charts for months, including Australia, where it held the top spot with an all-time record for 24 weeks. “Dance Monkey” also dominated the UK list for 11 weeks, a record for a female solo artist; it reached the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100; topped the charts in about 30 territories, and is recognized as the 3rd most streamed song on Spotify.
