Macron re-elected for second term as French President: projection – POLITICO
PARIS — French President Emmanuel Macron was re-elected on Sunday, winning 58.2 percent of the vote over far-right challenger Marine Le Pen’s 41.8 percent, according to a projection by pollster Ipsos.
The projected result, released immediately after polling stations close in the crucial second round, would make Macron the first French president in two decades to win a second term.
Official results are expected later tonight but the projection means Macron can be confident he’s secured another five years at the Elysee.
