Coronation Street and Shameless star Maggie Fox has died after a ‘sudden accident’.
ox’s comedy partner Sue Ryding announced the news and said she was in “shock”.
She wrote on Facebook: “It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Maggie Fox, my 40-year-old comedy partner and co-artistic director of LipService. Maggie passed away yesterday surrounded by her family.”
She added: “Consequently, the Chateau Ghoul Spring Tour has been cancelled. As you can imagine, I am heartbroken.”
Details of the accident are not known at this time.
Fox played two roles on Coronation Street during her 40-year career, in 2001 as Ruth Audsley and in 2010 as Judge Travers.
She was best known as Bilson on the ITV drama The Forsyte Saga and also appeared on the Radio 4 sketch show Lip Service, on which she co-wrote Ryding. The pair were set to embark on a national tour this week.
