Make 2022 your best year in bed using sex tricks like frog pose, eating blueberries and not kissing for 5 minutes
FAIL with your New Year’s resolutions? You’re not alone.
Research shows that more than a third of people who make these promises to themselves will not fulfill them after the end of January.
And sticking to an extreme diet or exercise plan can be a challenge in chilly weather – especially with Blue Monday, the saddest day of the year, coming after this weekend.
So why not plan for fun instead?
This year could be your sexiest year yet – with a little help from our carnal calendar.
From the clocks back in March to the bank holidays, every date is an opportunity for passion, in the words of sexpert Kate Taylor.
Here. she revealed it all to Katy Docherty.
This month, enjoy your brief enthusiasm for exercise by focusing on exercises that will boost your sex life.
For example, yoga will improve your flexibility and get more blood flowing to your vitals.
Try Frog Pose by raising your elbows while extending your knees and hips on the ground.
In the gym, simple planks work the deep core muscles, which are important for sexual stamina.
And, according to Harvard researchers, regular swimming can prolong your sexual life.
Whatever you do, work out with your partner and get bouncy during the cool down period.
There is a time and place for wham-bam action – but not February.
Valentine’s night is the time to enjoy all the sensations.
To make sex more intimate than passionate, you need to INCREASE eye contact, LOWER speed, and MAXIMUM body contact.
Make your movements slow and sensitive rather than frantic.
Gently stroke each other until every inch of your skin stretches, and keep your faces close together so you can kiss as much as possible.
Try a girl slowly overhead and maintain eye contact as you move.
At the last moment, kiss.
DO IT FAST
The clocks go back this month, so you’ll have less than an hour in bed, which is the perfect time to finally master the fast.
Quick and frantic sex can be unsatisfying for women as we often need 10 minutes MORE action than you guys to get to the climax.
So you need to set the time before starting.
Try swapping out more exciting sex sessions throughout the day, or warm up first with a toy. Try the Lelo Mia 2 (£69, Amazon).
Then apply a super-deep position that provides maximum stimulation, like Quick-stand.
Your partner stands behind you, keeping your hips tight. You lean forward, touching your fingertips to the floor.
STEP away from the Easter eggs. Eating foods high in sugar can lower your sex drive, as excess weight upsets your hormonal balance.
Instead, this month adopt a diet that will make your sex drive skyrocket.
AVOID sugar, processed foods, and saturated fats. In addition to causing stress and anxiety, processed foods can affect your energy levels and make you feel alert.
EMBRACE foods are high in magnesium-ium (nuts, leafy vegetables and seeds) to regulate your hormones.
Add zinc to boost sperm health (oysters, pumpkin seeds) and finish off with fresh foods that naturally boost dopamine (blueberries, avocados and asparagus).
One way to increase the strength of your orgasm is to practice margin (aka climax, glide, or decline).
That’s when you stimulate yourself and/or your partner until you’re almost (but not quite) at the climax – and then stop.
Wait for the emotions to subside and then start again.
Lacing is fun when you try it on your own, but it’s especially fun and enjoyable with your partner.
By teasing each other almost without end, you learn each other’s signals and giving ways, making you sexual mind readers.
Both of you will also stay tantalizingly aroused for an even longer period of time.
FOREPLAY is the most important part of your sex life.
But it’s also often the first thing to do once you’ve settled into an established relationship.
A survey published in the Journal of Sexual Research found that the average foreplay lasts only 11 minutes.
This month, you can try to double that number.
Spend five minutes just kissing before you’re undressed.
Kissing increases heart rate, increases natural lubrication, and enhances erections.
Then, spend ten minutes massaging each other, with teasing touches skimming over the mischief.
Next, switch to the third base for five minutes.
And only try to run home when both of you are reeling with lust.
WORKING EVERY DAY
COUPLES have more sex in July than in other months of the year, according to a survey by Lovehoney.
Take it as a challenge and aim to have sex, or at least a very intimate encounter, with each other every day this month.
Regular sex is a great stress reliever. It promotes intimacy, lowers blood pressure, and even boosts your self-esteem.
Don’t aim for nightly marathons. Instead, combine a few quick meals before work with some communal selfies.
Even getting naked together under a blanket on the sofa to watch TV can increase oxytocin (natural bonding hormone) levels and help the two of you feel more loved and trusted.
GET HOT & HOT
WHEN the weather heats up, your sex life could fizzle out unless you do some sexy swaps.
FORGET bonking beds. The heat rises and if you stay upstairs, your room will be too humid.
Instead, go to cooler downstairs rooms, such as the kitchen (use that tiled floor) or the living room.
Create SPLASH with some steamy and wild fun by snooping in the shower. Or soak in the hot tub or garden pool, if you have one.
To keep the air circulating, go to locations that aren’t too close and personal.
Exchange Spoon for Fork (she lies on her back, legs wide to the sides, he enters from the top).
BACK TO SEX SCHOOL
SIGN UP for online sex education to understand your own body, get to know your partner better, or improve your relationship.
Shush Life: Online courses for women and couples on orgasm, oral sex, and libido from sex shop Sh! (£35. Shushlife.com/courses).
LoveHoney on YouTube: Fun, free videos about everything from lingerie to crafts.
The Road to Intimacy: Created by sex therapists, this online couples class aims to promote emotional and physical closeness. (£120, theintimacy Institute.org).
IF you’re not using Halloween as an excuse for a steamy role-play then I’m sorry to say you haven’t.
Costumes, wigs and characters are the easiest ways to refresh your sex life and add excitement.
Try to be a character unlike your usual self, as an opportunity to discover more about your own sexuality.
For example, if you’re usually submissive in bed, adopt a bolder personality like Wonder Woman or Duke Hastings of Bridgerton, so you can “dominate” your partner.
FEEL OF FIRE
Full-body orgasms are explosive climaxes that feel like waves of energy flowing through your body.
They are elusive, but certain techniques can help you get there.
First, always make sure to do full-body stimulation. Work on at least two or three body parts at once (for example, chest + bit + bum, or legs + bit + kiss).
Make sure you breathe deeply, as shallow breathing can reduce your energy.
Keep your whole body moving during sex.
And raise your voice – the louder you speak, the easier it is for your energy to build up to hit a big release.
ROCK THEIR STORE
GIVE your partner (and, honestly, yourself) gifts that will keep your sex life vibrant for another 12 months.
Try a couple’s vibrator, such as Dame Eva II (£79, currentbody.com), which the woman wears during sex for hands-free stimulation.
Or a sex game that will reveal all your silly secrets: Sexy Truth Or Dare (£14, unamongoods.com).
A kinky pillow (£11.99, Amazon) will ensure a tingling G-spot every time, and is inflatable so you can take it to the motel.
And invest in a quality lubricant like Cult Beauty Intimate Lubricating Drops (£22, Cultbeauty.co.uk).
