Male passenger (aged 30) dies in car crash in Co Wexford


A male passenger in his early 30s died after the car he was traveling in crashed into a tree in Co Wexford last night.

ardaí is investigating the fatal single-vehicle road traffic accident that took place on Sunday evening, April 14.

“A male passenger (early 30s) was fatally injured when the car he was traveling in collided with a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken from the scene to Waterford General Hospital where an autopsy will take place at a later date. The male driver of the car (late 30s) was treated at the scene by emergency workers,” a Garda spokesman said.

“The R733 at Bargy Commons, Cleariestown, Co Wexford is currently closed in both directions pending a technical investigation of the crime scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place. This road will remain closed this morning Monday pending the completion of the investigation.”

Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses to the collision to get in touch. All road users who have been in the area and may have camera footage, including dashcam footage, are asked to provide it to the Gardaí investigation.
