An 18-year-old man has been arrested after a young girl was allegedly raped in the sea on Bournemouth beach.
A man has been accused of dragging and raping the 15-year-old further into the water on a crowded day at the beach.
The alleged attack took place in Bournemouth, Dorset, on a busy day on the beach in July last year and a West Midlands man has since been arrested by police before being released on bail.
The girl had been spending a day at the beach with her buddies when it was claimed her ball landed in front of a man who threw it back.
It is alleged that the man then used this to speak to the alleged victim before allegedly dragging her further out to sea and raping her.
The alleged victim bravely spoke out about the harrowing attack in September and recalled how she was reduced to tears.
In her statement, read out on BBC 1’s Crimewatch Live, she said: “I was in tears. I’ve changed a lot since it happened — I can’t bear to go out and I feel scared and vulnerable,” she said.
She continued, “I’m so scared that people will judge me for what happened. I didn’t ask for it.”
