A man, 20, has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Sandra Boyd in Finglas on Saturday.
The man, who was initially arrested by Gardaí on Monday, is due to appear before the criminal courts tonight.
Tributes were paid to mother-of-five Sandra Boyd, who suffered a fatal gunshot wound after the incident at a house in Collins Place, Finglas, just before 9pm on Saturday.
Ambulance services were called to the scene and she was taken to Mater’s Hospital but sadly pronounced dead a short time later.
A full investigation has been launched and it is understood Gardaí believe a firearm was fired at the property, resulting in Ms Boyd being accidentally shot.
A firearm believed to be a handgun was seized by investigators and sent for ballistics testing.
Originally from the Finglas area, Sandra Boyd was a mother of four boys and a little girl. Locals expressed their shock at the tragedy.
Friends on social media also described her as “one of a kind” and “a diamond” while revealing their heartbreak over her murder.
One person wrote online: “Words fail me. Absolutely heartbroken for you and your family, Sandra Boyd. you were a diamond Look after your babies and your family during this devastating time. RIP nice.”
Another post said: “Absolutely shocking news. What kind of world do we live in. Absolutely heartbreaking. Rest in peace Sandra, you were truly one of a kind. Look down on your children and your family.”
