A man died in a road accident in Co Louth this morning.
The man, in his 20s, was the passenger of one of the cars involved in the incident on the N33 in Richardstown, Dunleer, Co. Louth at around 5am.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where an autopsy will be carried out at a later date.
The other occupants of that vehicle, two men in their 20s, were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver and sole occupant of the other car involved, a woman in her 20s, was taken to Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, where she is currently in critical condition.
Gardaí are currently at the site of the fatal crash.
The road is currently closed and the services of Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested. Local diversions have been set up.
Gardaí appeals to all witnesses to this collision to come forward.
All road users with camera footage, including dashcams, who were driving on the N33 in Richardstown between 4:40am and 5:15am are asked to make these footage available to Gardaí.
