Man, 22, arrested on suspicion of murdering student, 19, in university halls

A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and assault by police investigating the death of a teenage student on university halls.
Maher Maaroufe has been arrested on suspicion of the crimes following the death of Sabita Thanwani, 19, at student accommodation in Clerkenwell, central London, Scotland Yard said.
The Metropolitan Police said her family had been informed and were being assisted by specialist officers.
Officers were called to the scene around 5.10am on Saturday for reports of a seriously injured woman.
Police and medics were present but the woman, who was studying at City, University of London, was pronounced dead.
A spokesman for Unite Students added: “Our priority right now is the safety and welfare of the students at the Arbor House.”
