Man, 25, arrested after police opened a murder investigation following the death of his mother

Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in the murder investigation into the death of Aimee Jane Cannon in West Calder and say the investigation is continuing

Police have arrested a man as part of a murder investigation into the death of Aimee Jane Cannon.
Aimee Jane, 24, was found at around 6.35pm on Saturday May 7th with a series of serious injuries at a property on Learmonth Crescent in West Calder.
A massive police presence at the scene has been reported over the past three days while forensic officers investigate what happened.
Now a 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with her death, the police said late Monday evening, reported the daily record.
Police also said investigations were continuing and called on the public for information.
In a brief statement released on social media, West Lothian Police said: “A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Aimee Jane Cannon.
“Aimee Jane (26) was found at around 6.35pm on Saturday 7th May 2022 at a property in Learmonth Crescent, West Calder with a series of serious injuries. The investigation continues after the arrest.
“Members of the public can continue to submit information through an online portal. The Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) is a website that gives the public access to a form so they can submit information directly to the Major Incident Teams at the Scottish Crime Campus:
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on number 101 quoting reference number 3181 dated 7 May 2022. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
Former Detective Superintendent Andrew Patrick reported this Scottish Daily Expresssaid: “Our thoughts are very much with Aimee’s family and friends at this difficult time for her.

“Aimee was the victim of a brutal, sustained assault and we will maintain a continued police presence in the area as our investigation continues.
“I want to reassure the local community that everything is being done to find who is responsible.
“I would also like to urge anyone who has information that could advance our investigation.
“We would be happy to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard any signs of disturbance at the property at Learmonth Crescent to get in touch.
“We are also examining CCTV as part of our investigation and anyone who may have private footage, possibly from a dashcam or doorbell camera, is asked to check and let us know anything relevant.”
