Man, 26, tragically dies in a one-wheeler crash in Limerick after his motorbike collides with a metal fence

A man, 26, tragically died in a collision with a motorcycle south of Limerick this afternoon.
It is understood that the man lost control of the vehicle he was driving and collided with a wall and metal fence.
The collision, which Gardai is currently investigating, occurred in the O’Malley Park area of Southill, Limerick.
The scene was attended by emergency services and has now been cordoned off to allow an autopsy Garda Forensic collision investigators.
The local coroner has been notified and an autopsy will be arranged.

In a statement today, a Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí in Roxboro Road is investigating a fatal road traffic collision involving a vehicle that occurred at O’Malley Park, Southhill, Limerick on this afternoon Sunday, January 16, 2022 at around 1pm.

“A male motorcyclist collided with metal walls and fences. He was confirmed dead at the scene and his body was taken to the morgue at the University Hospital of Limerick, where An autopsy will be performed.
“The scene is being held and Forensic Collision investigators are conducting an investigation at this time. The road has been closed and diverted locally.
“Gardaí is appealing for witnesses to come forward and any passerby with video footage (including dash cams) is asked to provide them.
