Man (60) dies after alleged driver accident in Co Tipperary

A man has died after a suspected hit-and-run collision in Co Tipperary.

The incident happened in the early hours of Monday morning at Clonmore in Templemore.

Just after 1am Gardaí were alerted by reports of a man (aged 60) being spotted on the side of the R433 road near the village of Clonmore.

The man was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The man’s body remains at the scene and the road remains closed this morning to allow for a technical survey of the area.

Gardaí appeals to all witnesses to this incident to come forward.

A spokesman said: “Any road users who were in the area between 1am and 1.20am on Monday morning and who may have camera footage (including dashcam) are asked to provide this Gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Thurles Garda Station on 0504 25100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.”

The investigations are ongoing.
