Keven Jones went into cardiac arrest after being mauled by a pet American bulldog in Wrexham, North Wales.

The 62-year-old died at his daughter-in-law’s home on Holt Road on Monday.

Chanel Nicole Fong described her father-in-law dying before her eyes as the “worst day of her life”.

In a Facebook post, she said she asked Mr Jones to look after her dogs as she would be away part of the day.

Ms Fong said he was the only person who could handle her dogs, apart from her and her husband Josh, who is in London.

However, as she was getting ready to leave the house at around 11:20 a.m., she overheard Mr Jones in the kitchen telling Cookie-Doe, the dog that had bitten him, to get off him.

Ms. Fong walked into the room and told the dog to come down, and he did.

She said she then noticed blood coming from her father-in-law’s leg and she grabbed the dog’s blanket to stem the blood spurting from the wound.

She said she then carried him to a sofa and called an ambulance.

Ms Fong said Mr Jones grabbed her shoulder to tell her he was dying.

At the time she was still on the line with emergency services and says she was told to put him on the floor and start chest compressions.

An ambulance arrived about seven minutes later, she said.

Paramedics spent 45 minutes trying to save Mr Jones’ life but he sadly died at the scene.

A spokesman for North Wales Police said: “An investigation into this incident is ongoing and officers are in contact with the family of the deceased.”

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We have been called to reports of a medical emergency in the Holt Road area of Wrexham.

“We sent three ambulances, two rapid response vehicles and the Wales Air Ambulance to the scene.”
