Man, 71, dies in street fight as three are arrested for his ‘murder’ in Birmingham

A 71-year-old man has died following a street brawl in Birmingham when three people were arrested on suspicion of murder.
Police arrested two men and a woman following the tragedy in Bartley Green on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to reports of a fight near St Gabriel’s Church shortly after 12:30pm.
Police arrived to find the pensioner in cardiac arrest and began providing first aid until paramedics took over – but sadly he died at the scene.
A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder, while another man, 31, and a woman, 36, were detained on suspicion of murder and adultery.
All three remain in custody and are being questioned by detectives while investigations continue into the man’s death.
Detective Inspector Ranjit Sangha said: “We have a team of detectives working hard to understand what happened yesterday.
“That includes who was involved, what roles they played and why they fought.
“We know there was a scuffle and passers-by seem to be trying to calm the situation down.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said paramedics were called to Marston Road.
They said: “When we arrived, we found one patient, a man in critical condition.
“The paramedics immediately started taking advanced life support measures but sadly, despite their best efforts, there was clearly nothing they could do to save the man and him. was confirmed dead at the scene.”
