Man, 80, dies after unusual fall from mobility scooter in Kinsale, Cork

A man in his 80s died after a freak accident in which he fell from his mobility scooter while traveling in a Cork town.

ardaí have now asked for witnesses to the fatal accident that occurred in Kinsale, Co Cork, on Sunday morning.

Just after 9.30am a man in his 80s was seriously injured after falling from a mobility scooter on Cork Street in the popular tourist city of Cork.

It is understood that the man was away from home when the accident happened.

Gardaí and paramedics were on scene within minutes of the alarm being raised.

The injured man was taken to Cork University Hospital (CUH) by ambulance.

Despite doctors’ desperate efforts to stabilize his condition, the man was later pronounced dead.

Gardaí informed the Cork South Coroner of the incident and a full forensic investigation of the scene of the accident was organised.

Officers are also examining CCTV surveillance camera footage of premises in the area to determine if the circumstances surrounding the accident were captured.

Gardaí have now urged all witnesses to come forward to assist in their investigation.

They want to clarify the exact circumstances under which the pensioner fell from his mobility scooter.
