Mackenzie “Max” Anderson, 21, was left with multiple stab wounds after Friday’s alleged domestic violence attack in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia
A man has been accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend in a “horrific” attack that left their toddler blood-soaked.
Mackenzie Anderson, 21, known as “Max”, was found dead with “multiple stab wounds” outside her home in Mayfield, a suburb of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia.
Hardy senior police officers who were present were stunned by the grisly crime scene that MailOnline reports.
Police officers have now charged Tyrone Thompson, 22, after arresting him at the scene. They claim he gained access to Ms Anderson’s home before making a “terrible attack” in front of their three-year-old son.
The boy was left “covered in blood” after the attack, which police have linked to domestic violence.
At around 10:40 p.m. the night of the attack, Ms. Anderson called emergency services and reported that a man had broken in.
When police arrived on Friday, they found the young mother lying on the landing outside her apartment with stab wounds. Despite the paramedics’ best efforts, she could not be saved.
The suspect was in police custody when he was taken to hospital with a hand injury.
In addition to the murder-rape, Thompson was also charged with willful entry and violating a feared domestic violence order.
The suspect is understood not to be related to the toddler.
The horrifying scene deeply affected hardened police officers, who found the young mother and her young son “covered in blood.”
Newcastle City Commander Superintendent Wayne Humphrey said: “I’ve just spent the last 20 minutes looking at body worn footage and it was an awful scene, awful.”
Police confirmed that the youth was not injured in the incident.
Ms. Anderson was in recovery from a drug addiction that began using methamphetamine at the age of 16.
In May 2019, she posted details of her personal struggle on Facebook.
She wrote: “Addiction is a real thing, addiction is a disease that makes you too selfish to see the chaos and chaos in your life that you have created or to care about the lives of the people whose lives you make.” destroyed and injured.
“It blinds you to who you are when you’re high.
“I’ve been clean off the ice for three years now and I still count myself as a person in recovery only when I found who I really was when I freed myself from being an addict.”
Superintendent Humphrey confirmed the boy was not injured and was taken to relatives.
