Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with a stabbing at a home in Co Carlow, while a subsequent search uncovered nearly €500,000 worth of suspected cocaine.
Ardaí visited the scene of the incident at a home in Tullow, Co. Carlow after reports of a serious attack were reported just after 3am on Monday 4 April.
Upon arrival, Gardaí discovered a 33-year-old man who appeared to have sustained stab wounds.
The man was taken to St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny for treatment and his condition was described as “serious but stable”.
“In a follow-up operation, a home in the Tullow area was searched by Gardaí and a man in his 20s was arrested in connection with the alleged assault,” Gardaí said in a statement.
“A large quantity of cocaine with an estimated street value of €490,000 was also discovered in the house and was undergoing analysis.
“The arrested man is currently held at Carlow Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.”
Gardaí said the drugs seized were now being sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
The investigations are ongoing.
